Farah Siraj, the “Norah Jones of the Middle East,” according to Time Out New York, performed at this past weekend’s Art After 5 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  Ms. Siraj and her talented bandmates performed soaring, medditerranean pieces composed of drums, classical guitar and floating melodies that brought to mind Arabian nights.

Meeting the band after the performance was wonderful–we learned that they have been playing together for about 5 years, after meeting at Berkee College of Music.  Farah wore a handmade dress from India, where she and her band recently worked with underprivileged students teaching them music.

It was a beautify evening with the lilting sounds of Farah Siraj band, and each guest I am sure went away with their spirit lifted.
